·      1944 – Balthazar flees his home in Budapest during Russian occupation of WWII. By 1950 he enrolls in the Beaux Arts in Paris and, before graduating, apprentices with the firms of both Le Corbusier and Backstrom & Reines. 

·      1955 – Eero Saarinen hires Balthazar as a designer, and soon integrates his model/photography work into the firm's formal design process. Balthazar soon establishes professional photo studio, working with clients like Mies van der Rohe, Minoru Yamasaki, Frank Gehry, Philip Johnson, Frank Lloyd Wright, and many more.

·      1964 – The American Institute of Architects awards Balthazar with the Gold Medal of Excellence.

·      1994 – U.S. President Bill Clinton personally selects 12 prints by Balthazar as a national gift to Hungarian President Árpád Göncz. 

·      2011 – The Library of Congress completes one of the institution's single largest acquisitions in the form of Balthazar's complete film archive.
